Professor Dragan Damjanovic graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Sarajevo in 1980 with a Bachelor's degree in Physics. He then earned his Ph.D. in Ceramic Science from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences in 1987. From 1988 to 1991, he served as a Research Associate at the Materials Research Laboratory of Pennsylvania State University. Since 1991, Professor Damjanovic has been affiliated with the Ceramics Laboratory in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, where he has long led the Ferroelectrics and Functional Oxides Group at the Materials Institute.

 

Currently, Professor Dragan Damjanovic serves as the President of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society. He is also a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society. Additionally, he has received numerous prestigious awards, including the 2024 George H. Haertling Lifetime Service Award from the American Ceramic Society, the 2023 Wilhelm R. Buessem Award from the U.S. National Science Foundation, the Humboldt Research Award (2021–2023), the 2020 IEEE UFFC Outstanding Contribution Award, and the 2018 IEEE Robert E. Newnham Ferroelectrics Award.
